This year’s receiver of the title Artist of the Year is a man who is concerned with natural processes. He uses materials such as animal skeletons and wax shaped by bees and his name is Emil Westman Hertz.
Every year the Danish art museum Horsens kunstmuseum rewards one young and promising artist with the title Artist of the Year. With the the title the winner is granted a scholarship of DKK 25.000 and is given the opportunity to exhibit at the museum.
This year’s winner is Emil Westman Hertz, a young Danish man who works with different medias such as sculpture, installation, collage and paperwork. He seems to be fascinated with processes found in nature. His exhibition at Horsens kunstmuseum is called Prinsens Have (eng: The Garden of the Prince) and includes a bird skeleton and wax sculptures sculpted with help from bees (yes, bees!).
Further information about Hertz’ practice and his exhibition ‘Prinsens Have’ can be found at following link (in Danish).
