Bronze Candlestick – National Museum

In its common form the candlestick made out of cast brass has been produced in Denmark since the late 1700s and first went out of production around the 1870.

The wide bowl beneath the candlestick was filled with water which reduced fire hazard, should the candle break or fall onto the table. The model can be seen in the Modern Day History exhibit at the National Museum
