The drinking vessel is lined with silver at the rim and on the tip, and is carved with a dragon motif. The horn need not be used for drinking only, it is also ideal as a decoration.

The most popular way to drink your mjød in the viking age in Scandinavia was by the drinking horn. In the old saga from the asa believers thor drank a horn containing all the seas unknowing. He scared Loki and his men to drink a part of it. You see them in the movie Beowulf as well and was found on some burial sites around the scandinavian.
The horns of viking age are rarely preserved. Archaeology shows that these drinking horns were more used than those few there has been found.

The horn has been scraped, sanded and polished on the outside.
Treatment: Clean the horn with a bottle cleaner, before use. When cleaning, use warm, but not boiling water, as this may damage the horn. Always clean and dry the horn after use. Do not clean the horn with chemicals or soap, and do not put in the dishwasher. To maintain the horn's colour and shine, occasionally rub it in oil.
